One of the benefits of conversation between alumni groups is that it rapidly becomes clear and apparent that with a bit of proactivity we can all help each other. We met Jozsi Szekeres, one of the most active and enthusiastic member of HAESF (Hungarian American Scholarship Fund) at this fall's Pilis Alumni Summit.

HAESF is an organization which for the past 5 years has been actively promoting the concept of US work experience for a select group of young Hungarians. As a result, hundreds of fresh graduates could gain a 12 month long insight into what it means: working in the USA.

The purpose of this page is to help out those countrymen of ours in the HAESF program who are currently gainfully employed overseas and upon their return they would be interested in entertaining job offers. In fact, the organization requires them to return to Hungary after 1 year in the USA and find employment here for at least 3 years.  So, consider the vignettes below a "forward business card".

What is common in all of them: they are talented, have at least one year work experience in the USA (not a bad claim these days) and would like to have a job upon their return which suits their experience.

Julia (31)
is a graduate of the Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), Faculty of Arts where she majored in English and Spanish Language and Literature with a teaching profile.

Julia did a split internship through HAESF spending eight months at an NGO, the Council of Great City Schools in Washington DC and four months at a for-profit company, RMC Research in Portsmouth, New Hampshire learning about educational policies and educational research in the United States. Upon returning home she joined the Know and Pol research team of the Faculty of Social Sciences at ELTE investigating educational policy and governance in Hungary and the EU. Most recently, she has participated in the work for the 2011 Hungarian Presidency of the EU at the International Department in Education of the Hungarian Ministry of National Resources

She has a professional interest and experience in education policy, education research, consulting, diplomacy as well as research management and the organization of professional conferences and trainings. Contact: office@ivyplus.hu

Eszter (24)
has a Master’s Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences. She was interning at Pfizer’s Oligonucleotide Research Unit in Cambridge, MA, where she gained experience in siRNA-liposome formulations and got interested in biotechnology research. Eszter is looking for a challenging science job where she can use her experience and broaden her research horizon. Contact: office@ivyplus.hu

Zsófia (27)

graduated from ELTE with a B.Ed. degree in English and an MA degree in English Language and Literature. She is also a graduate student here at the Department of Psychology and Education working on her MA degree in Public Education. Zsofia has experience in translation and teaching as well as in the non-profit sphere as she worked first for the Roma Education Fund (half a year) and then for the Hungarian Human Rights Foundation (1 year) in New York. Here she gained experience for example in lobbying, doing research, writing and editing articles, press releases, summaries and analyses. Zsofia is interested in translation, working in the non-profit sector and education.

 a Budapesti Corvinus Egyetemen (BCE) szerezte közgazdász diplomáját, mely mellett a CEMS Master’s in International Management képzésében vett részt a Stockholm School of Economics-on és a BCE-n. Egyetemi tanulmányai során rövidebb gyakorlati és projektmunka keretében megismerkedett a Citibank Hungary vállalati banki- és a McKinsey & Co. tanácsadói tevékenységével. Tanulmányai utolsó évében a Nemzetközi Bankárképző Központnál dolgozott junior tanácsadóként banki kockázatkezelési területen.  Gábor jelenleg a HAESF-en keresztül regionális biztosítási programok létrehozásával és menedzselésével foglalkozik az Aon Risk Services dél-amerikai üzleti központjában, Miamiban.

nemzetközi tanulmányok Európa szakértő a NYME-ről. Az egyetem elvégzése után, a HAESF-el 1 évet töltött az Egyesült Államokban, Washington DC-ben, ahol a CSIS és a Hudson Intézetnél végzett Közép-Európával kapcsolatos elemzéseket. A visszatérés után

megszerezte második diplomáját is a BCE-NYME közös képzésében, nemzetközi kapcsolatok és gazdasági ügyintéző szakon. Szakdolgozatait A Visegrádi Együttműködés diszfunkcionalitása és a Benelux együttműködés funkcionalitása ill. az Autonómiák Európában témában írta és decembertől teljes állásban szeretne elhelyezkedni.

angol és könyvtárinformatika szakot végez idén januárban az SZTE-n. Hét hónapot töltött HAESF ösztöndíjasként Oregon államban, a University of Oregon Library Systems részlegénél könyvtárinformatikai, információmenedzsmenti és programozási feladatokkal. Másik szakján területei az oktatás, a szakfordítás és szinkrontolmácsolás, mindháromban széleskörű tapasztalattal rendelkezik.

okleveles közgazdászként végzett a Budapesti Műszaki és Gazdaságtudományi Egyetemen 2008-ban, majd egy évet dolgozott Washington, D.C.-ben a Hungarian-American Enterprise Scholarship Fund ösztöndíjasaként. Az egyetemi évek alatt szerzett tudását és munkatapasztalatát a Chemonics International-nál kamatoztatta. A vállalat az Egyesült Államok Nemzetközi Fejlesztési Hivatalával (USAID) együttműködésben a világ több mint 75 országában implementál fejlesztési projekteket. A New Business Team tagjaként feladatai közé tartozott egy 6 millió dolláros project költségvetési tervének elkészítése.
